It came down to playing defense and getting stops in Seattle Prep's 47-42 victory over the O'Dea Fighting Irish on Thursday afternoon.
"It's Lakers-Celtics out there," said Seattle Prep junior DJ Fenner.
These two teams met in Metro League play and split the series 1-1.
In a game that had ten lead changes and ten ties, neither team could gain separation. Seattle Prep's largest lead of eight points came in the game's waning seconds.
Defense ruled the day for both squads. Prep held O'Dea to 21.7% shooting, while the Panthers were held to 29.2% shooting by the Irish.
O'Dea's depended on its senior leader Sekou Wiggs through much of the fourth quarter, but a couple of timely turnovers killed the Irish in the end. Wiggs finished with 15 points on 5-for-16 shooting from the field.
Fenner led the way for Seattle Prep with 15 points, Mitch Brewe chipped in nine points and pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds as well.
