The University Titans held off the Lake Washington Kangaroos, 60-55, in a game that came down to the final minute. After a back-and-forth match for the majority of the game, University depended on its leader, junior Brett Bailey. Bailey converted on several shots in the fourth quarter to secure some breathing room for his team. Bailey finished with 19 points and nine rebounds for the Titans.
Lake Washington was not at full strength in the fourth quarter. Senior Guy Lynott picked up three fouls in the first quarter and then fouled out in the fourth quarter. Lake Washington's Darien Nelson-Henry was held to eight points, with his teammate Matt Staudacher scoring 30 points. Nelson-Henry sat out for more than a few minutes in the fourth quarter, giving the Kangaroos limited offensive options.
University will take on Rainier Beach in the semifinals on Friday at 3:45 p.m. at the Tacoma Dome.
