Basketball. Basketball. Basketball. For high school basketball fanatics, March Madness begins today around the state. The spotlight will be on the teams 4A and 3A Boys and Girls state tournaments happening in Tacoma today. I'll be providing live updates all throughout, so come follow the action on SB Nation Seattle if you won't physically be in the Tacoma Dome.
After writing a nice profile on Rainier Beach's Anrio Adams yesterday, Mason Kelley wrote another outstanding piece on Garfield's Tucker Haymond for Thursday's 4A tournament preview in the Seattle Times. This weekend will be fun. And it's only the beginning of a month full of hoops. Let it begin.

- Doug Pacey from the News Tribune gives us some things to watch out for in this weekend's state basketball tournaments. Will the Metro League reclaim the Boys 3A title? Rainier Beach, Seattle Prep and O'Dea have the talent and coaching to be playing a meaningful game come Saturday night...Left Coast Recruiting gives us a list of players to watch in the tournament.
- Joe Lunardi's latest bracketology has California, Washington and Arizona all making it into the tournament with Oregon as one of the lat four teams out. What happens if Washington and Arizona don't make it to the tournament finals of the Pac-12 tournament? And does Oregon actually have a shot at making it?
- On a more serious note, the 2012 Brock and Salk Media Bracket continues. SB Nation's own Jeff Sullivan from Lookout Landing entered the tournament as a No. 16 seed, but has advanced all the way to the Sweet 16. He'll need to get past the Seattle Times' Danny O'Neil who is a No. 5 seed.
- Franklin Gutierrez will miss at least a month after suffering from a partial tear of the pectoral muscle. Tough tough luck. This stinks.
