Make that 30-0.
The Washington Huskies are undefeated in games Brendan Sherrer has appeared in. Saturday was no different as the Huskies (19-8, 12-3 Pac-12) completed a rare regular season sweep over the Arizona Wildcats (19-9, 10-5) in their 79-70 victory on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore guard Terrence Ross poured in 25 points on 11-for-19 shooting. He also pulled down five rebounds. Freshman guard Tony Wroten added 22 points and pulled down nine rebounds of his own in the effort.
Huskies seniors Darnell Gant and Brendan Sherrer both received honorary starts in their final game at Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle. Sherrer, who has never started in a game before for the Huskies, played in the game's opening minutes and was replaced by Aziz N'Diaye. Sherrer pulled down a rebound and later re-entered the game with under a minute to go in the second half.
In a nationally-televised game on Fox Sports, Washington's trademark high-flying and athletic style of play did not disappoint. N'Diaye flushed home a one-handed fastbreak dunk after stealing the basketball from Arizona's Nick Johnson at half-court.
Arizona Head Coach Sean Miller was given a technical foul after arguing vehmently for a travel call on N'Diaye. Washington's C.J. Wilcox sunk two free-throws after that to cap off a 9-0 run at the 12:34 mark, giving the Huskies a 21-14 lead.
However, Washington was not able to keep the momentum going and did not convert on a field-goal attempt in the first half's final five minutes and Arizona stormed back to cut the Huskies' lead down to 39-37.
In the second half, Washington did not relinquish its lead. Wroten elevated for a one-handed highlight dunk at the nine-minute mark over Arizona's Angelo Chol. After that, the Huskies never looked back. Two minutes later, a pair of three-pointers from Wilcox in a span of one minute gave the Huskies a nine-point lead and enough separation to secure a victory.
The Wildcats had four players in double figures. Freshman guard NIck Johnson led the way with 20 points.
