February 22-28: NFL Combine
March 13: Free agency begins
April 16: Offseason program begins
April 26-28: NFL Draft
May 11-13: Rookie minicamp
May 22: OTAs begin
June 12-14: Mandatory minicamp
June 15: Conclusion of offseason program
The Combine is just around the corner, giving scouts, teams, and fans a chance to see which athletes will separate themselves from the group. Shortly thereafter, the derby known as NFL free agency begins. Teams will have a chance to sign guys like Mario Williams, Peyton Manning, and Marques Colston. A little over a month later, teams will begin offseason programs, given team playbooks, access to the facilities, and the like. A week and a half later, the teams will grow by 5-25 players, depending on the amount of Draftees and undrafted rookie free agent signings.
After a week or two of settling in an getting situated in a new city, rookie camps commence. 10 days later, the rookies are joined by the entire team for OTAs. Optional organized team activities are great, but by mid June, minicamps begin and the team is officially all back together, and training camp and the new season is just around the corner.The offseason is bound to go a lot quicker than you think.
