Cornerback Desmond Trufant will conclude an illustrious career at Washington on Saturday, when the Huskies close out their 2012 season against Boise State in the Las Vegas Bowl. But for Trufant, this might only be the start of his football career, as many expect him to follow in the footsteps of his two older brothers and eventually get drafted into the NFL.
Here's what ESPN NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. had to say about Trufant, with Kiper's comments coming via the Seattle Times:
"There's not an elite senior corner this year and he's right now in the mix to be the second or third highest-rated cornerback," Kiper said.
Assuming that Trufant is drafted, he will become the third Trufant brother to play in the NFL. His oldest brother, Marcus Trufant, was also an All Pac-12 cornerback in 2003 at Washington State before eventually getting drafted by Seattle. Meanwhile, middle brother Isaac Trufant went to Eastern Washington and now plays for the Jets.
And now little brother Desmond is looking to follow in their footsteps.
Following Saturday's Las Vegas Bowl, he will play in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., on Jan. 26.
