It's been a tough year for Washington State football, and things didn't get any easier when star wide receiver Marquess Wilson was suspended by head coach Mike Leach on Monday. According to the Associated Press, the suspension allegedly occurred after Wilson walked out of practice on Sunday.

Whatever the case, it appears that Wilson does have one unlikely supporter in his corner: Washington State athletic director Bill Moos.

Moos went on KJR 950 AM in Seattle on Wednesday and mentioned that he'd spoken with Wilson about the incident. According to a tweet from Washington State beat writer Christian Caple, Moos said, "I gave him a little tough love. I also gave him a hug and told him I loved him."

Moos added that the situation would be re-evaluated in about a week.

Whether Wilson ever plays another game in a Washington State uniform or not, there's no doubt that it's been a disappointing first year for Leach in Pullman.

The Cougars are currently just 2-7 overall and have lost six straight entering Saturday's game against UCLA.
