The No. 4 Oregon Ducks and No. 17 USC Trojans both put on an offensive show in the first half, combining for more than 800 total yards in the first half, but it is the Ducks that enter halftime with a 34-24 lead.
The Ducks have seen two large leads at separate points in the game both disappear when the game seemed to be out of reach for quarterback Matt Barkley and the Trojans, one being a 21-3 lead and the other being a 34-17 lead.
The Trojans have been able to remain in the game behind quick strike touchdowns of their own in the second quarter from Barkley. While the senior quarterback has been picked off twice, he threw for two touchdowns on a combined two plays in the second quarter.
Fortunately for Oregon, the offense continued to pile points behind quarterback Marcus Mariota and running back Kenjon Barner. Mariota completed 14 of 16 passes for 213 yards and three touchdowns while picking up an additional 62 with his feet. Meanwhile, Barner rushed for a pair of touchdowns and accumulated 169 yards on the ground.
