The 2012 Seattle Marathon features various events for runners to participate in including the 5K, 10K and a kids marathon. But the half marathon and marathon courses are the ones everyone is waiting for, and the routes runners will take to complete each race will provide the participants with varied views of the city.

The half marathon course will start near Seattle Center at 5th and Harrison, right next to the Experience Music Project. Runners will continue through streets downtown, then run along the shores of Lake Washington. From Lake Washington, they'll head through the Arboretum and then back to the Seattle Center where they started.

A course map can be found here (PDF).

The marathon will feature the entire half marathon course but with added pieces to the route to make up for the extra distance. After finishing the half marathon course, runners will cross the Lake Washington floating bridge (I-90) and then loop around the beautiful Seward Park.

The half marathon and marathon are USATF and RRCA certified 13.1 and 26.2 mile courses, respectively.
