Oregon State vs. Stanford: Beavers answer, but Cardinal remain in front 14-10 at halftime

After opening up the second quarter down 14-0, the Oregon State Beavers were able to tack on ten consecutive points, but the Stanford Cardinal remain in front by the score of 14-10 at halftime.

Despite their first quarter struggles on offense, the Beavers offense put together two long scoring drive in the second quarter, including one touchdown. Oregon State went 79 yards and 81 yards down the field in those two drives, respectively.

It looked as if the Cardinal would be able to extend their 14-10 lead twice with time running out in the second quarter, but they failed to do so both times. The Beavers were able to force senior running back Stepfan Taylor into a fumble just outside the 20 yard line, but Oregon State punted just a few plays later. Then Stanford kicker Jordan Williamson missed a 51 yard field goal attempt with just one second remaining in the second quarter.

Freshman quarterback Kevin Hogan starred in the first half for Stanford, completing 13 of 16 passes for 165 yards and one touchdown while picking up an additional 30 yards on the ground. Meanwhile, running back Storm Woods rushed for 63 yards in the first half for Oregon State.
