WSU vs. Oregon State score update: Beavers lead 3-0 after first quarter

The Oregon State Beavers lead the Washington State Cougars, 3-0, after one quarter of play at Reser Stadium in Corvallis. OSU has dominated the game, driving the ball down the field with ease. The Cougar defense has held near the redzone to keep the score close.

The Beavers got on the board in their first possession, driving 41 yards in six plays. Trevor Romaine knocked in the 30-yard field goal to start the scoring.

The Washington State offense has struggled to get anything going. Quarterback Connor Halliday has been off on many of his passes. He threw an interception on WSU's second drive. That interception set up the Beavers deep in WSU territory, but the Cougar defense held on fourth down and OSU didn't add to its lead.

The WSU defense made big play near the end of the first. With the Beavers driving, Deone Bucannon intercepted Sean Mannion to end another Oregon State drive in Cougar territory. WSU converted a third down to maintain possession on the ensuing drive and has the ball on its own 16, facing a 2nd and 7 to begin the second quarter.
