Who would've believed it?
If you were told before the season that, at the halfway point, a 5'11 rookie QB drafted in the third round would be named the NFC West's best quarterback, you would have laughed. But according to Pro Football Focus, he is just that.
Alex Smith looked set to have this position sewn up before his two horrible performances against the Giants and Seahawks made you realize the 49ers' offense, is instead, limited by him. Instead, Wilson has performed above expectations and finds himself looking like a Top 10 quarterback.
Even though it sounds like Wilson may have earned this award by default, it is still somewhat impressive considering the fact he beat out both Smith and the St. Louis Rams' Sam Bradford, both of whom are former No. 1 overall picks.
Several other Seahawks made PFF's team, but given the spotlight put on Wilson after beating out free-agent signee Matt Flynn for Seattle's starting job, this accomplishment shouldn't go unnoticed.
