NFL moves trade deadline back to Thursday

Wild weather on the east coast has pushed the trade deadline back two days.

Under normal circumstances, the NFL trade deadline was supposed to come at 1:00 p.m. PT tomorrow. But with Hurricane Sandy bearing down on the East coast, the NFL has pushed the deadline back to Thursday.

With most of Manhatten shut down around the NFL's offices, including the subway system and the Holland and Battery Tunnels, you can imagine getting any business done would be quite trying. That's exactly why the NFL has pushed the deadline back to Thursday.

Depending on the track of Hurricane Sandy and the potential impacts from the storm, the NFL offices could remain closed on Tuesday. Gregg Rosenthal at NFL.com says a number of teams on the East coast have also shut down their offices today. Prior to the 2012 season, the NFL moved the trade deadline back to Week 8 from Week 6 in an attempt to encourage more trade talks between teams. The biggest named rumored to be on the trade block is St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson.
