The Oregon Ducks manhandled the Colorado Buffaloes in a 70-14 win on Saturday. The Ducks had their starters on the bench before halftime as they jumped out to a 56-0 lead.
De'Anthony Thomas had a stellar all-purpose day. Thomas gained 97 yards on just five carries while scoring a touchdown on the ground. He also added a scintillating 73-yard punt return for a score when he reversed field and made several cutbacks before burning the Colorado coverage team to the goal line.
Kenjon Barner's stats were a victim of his team's dominance once again. Barner topped the 100-yard mark in the second quarter, but didn't play at all in the second half. He finished with 103 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries, while adding two catches for 47 yards.
Colorado got on the board with two touchdowns in the third quarter, but could not do anything against Oregon's first team. The Buffaloes now fall to 1-7 on the season, while the Ducks move to 8-0 ahead of a big matchup next week.
Box Score Hero: See the stats for DAT and Barner above, but Bryan Bennett gets mention, as he rushed for 73 yards and three scores in mop-up duty, while also completing all three of his passes for 43 yards.
Rankings Ramifications: Oregon has fallen in the BCS standings the last two weeks despite remaining undefeated. Colorado will certainly lower their strength of schedule, but Oregon hanging 70 on the Buffaloes has to impress the human voters.
But Did They Cover? Oregon was able to cover despite a monstrous 47-point spread.
Next Week's Schedule: Colorado hosts Stanford next Saturday at 2 p.m. ET on FX. The Ducks visit the USC Trojans in a matchup with huge Pac-12 and national title implications at 7 p.m. ET on FOX.
