Oregon State has quickly become bowl eligible with 6-0 start

The Beavers usual late season run has started early this year and Oregon State finds themselves not only bowl eligible but sporting a top ten BCS ranking.

You'll pardon some Oregon State Beavers fans if the 6-0 start to the football season comes as a bit of a shock. It's the best start the school has had in 105 years. Back then, Teddy Roosevelt was the president and Oregon State University was better known as the Oregon Agricultural College.

The Beavers' 21-7 win over the Utah Utes got them to the magic half dozen wins needed to be bowl eligible. Head coach Mike Riley is pleased the Beavers got the bowl eligibility monkey off their back so quickly.

"You want to do it as fast as you can. And then you want to get to the best bowl that you can. So we've got the first part of that done."

The Beavers find themselves at No. 7 in the BCS rankings after the win and could get starting quarterback Sean Mannion back this weekend. Mannion was injured in a game against the Washington State Cougars two weeks ago. Oregon State will travel to Seattle to take on a Washington Huskies squad coming off a 52-17 drubbing at the hands of the Arizona Wildcats.
