Washington State Vs. Utah Final Score: Cougars Drop 62-60 Overtime Loss

The Washington St. Cougars visited the Utah Utes on Thursday night in search of their second Pac-12 win. Some timely scores by Utah forced the game into overtime and the end result was the second Pac-12 loss for the Cougars.

Utah jumped out to a 29-23 lead at halftime, but the Cougars were able to surge back and take a 52-46 lead with just 3:39 remaining in regulation. The Utes surged back, however, closing the distance to 54-52 at 2:07. WSU was able to hold them off until Josh Watkins sank a jumper at 0:18 to knot the game at 54-54 and force an overtime period.

Again, Washington State held a slim lead into the final minute, as a DaVonte Lacy free throw put the Cougars up 60-58 with 1:05 remaining. Chris Hines of the Utes hit a jumper to tie it with 0:45 left, before Watkins once again got to play the hero, putting up a jumper with just three second left to seal the 62-60 Utah win. The Utes are now 1-1 in Pac-12 play despite their miserable overall record of 4-10.

Brock Motum of Washington State led all scorers with 27 points, also recording eight rebounds and three assists. The only other member of the Cougars to record double digits was guard Faisal Aden, who picked up 11 points.
