Week 17 of the NFL season is finally here and it helps us welcome in the new year. While the hometown Seattle Seahawks may not be eligible for the playoffs, the team still has a chance to end with a solid 8-8 record and will battle the Arizona Cardinals for second place in the NFC West. In other action, those in the Seattle area will see Tim Tebow, the 49ers and the Texans battle for playoff positioning.
In early action on CBS at 10:00 a.m., those in Seattle will find the Texans and Titans on the television. Houston has already clinched their division and the No. 3 seed in the AFC, while Tennessee has an outside chance at a wild card birth if they get a little bit of help. Bill Macatee and Steve Tasker will be in the booth calling the action.
In early action on FOX, fans will see the San Francisco 49ers take on the St. Louis Rams. Should the 49ers win, they claim a first round bye in the playoffs. The Rams are "playing" for the No. 1 pick in the draft, and if they lose and the Colts win, they'll claim the top spot.
In afternoon action on CBS, Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos will face the Chiefs as they hope to claim a spot in the playoffs. The game will be called by Jim Nantz and Phil Simms. Kickoff is set for 1:15 p.m.
On FOX, Seahawks fans will see their team take on the Arizona Cardinals. Should Seattle win, they will claim sole possession of second place in the NFC West and will end the season with a .500 record, while Arizona would fall to 7-9. Sam Rosen and Chad Pennington will be in the booth calling the action.
In the primetime game of the week, the Cowboys and Giants will face off with a spot in the playoffs on the lineup. Kickoff is set for 5:20 and will be televised on NBC.
