Oregon State vs. Arizona State: OL Michael Philipp Out For Year With Knee Injury

The Oregon State Beavers will be without one of their top offensive lineman for the rest of the season after Michael Philipp underwent knee surgery this week, leaving him sidelined for the remainder of the 2011 season.

Philipp had a clean up procedure that went very well according to head coach Mike Riley, so much so that he was back on the sideline the next day on crutches to be there in support of his team. Philipps should be able to take part in practices once again later this fall as the surgery was more of a cleanup procedure than something reconstructive, though he has decided to red shirt the rest of the year and come back full-force in 2012.

“It was good he did it,” Riley said. "It cleaned some stuff up, and hopefully, it will ease his pain, and he will be ready to practice later this year, and for spring ball.

The 6’4" Junior out of San Bernardino Valley, California will have one more season with the Beavers next year, hopefully he’ll be back better than he was before.
