Seahawks Vs. Chargers Injury Notes: Williams, Durham, Bryant, Balmer

The Seahawks have announced several injuries that will keep players out of Thursday night's matchup against the Chargers. Wide receiver Mike Williams will not play due to a strained toe suffered on Monday, per Liz Mathews. Mathews notes, and John Boyle confirms, that rookie wide receiver Kris Durham will sit out with a pulled hamstring, defensive tackle Kentwan Balmer with a stinger, and defensive end Red Bryant, with a lingering knee issue.

Pete Carroll was quick to point out that Bryant's status is not injury related, but rather that they're bringing him along slowly after last season's year-ending MCL surgery, as Big Red hasn't fully recovered or gotten into football shape.

Durham is a rookie receiver that is battling to prove he's worth this 4th round selection, so this injury comes at a bad time. Same goes for Kentwan Balmer, who is most likely a bubble player at this point, and will need every snap he can get to prove he deserves a roster spot.

Also of note, John Boyle reports that Tarvaris Jackson will start at quarterback for the Seahawks on Thursday, but Pete Carroll hasn't decided whether the new Seahawks free agent signings, Alan Branch, Sidney Rice, and Zach Miller, among others, will be ready to go for the first preseason game.
