De'Anthony Thomas was the big prize of last year's recruiting class for the Oregon Ducks, as the Crenshaw product decided to pick Eugene over the hometown USC Trojans and a host of other prominent schools. The big question was what position Thomas would play upon arriving this summer.
Matt Prehm of 247Sports learned from head coach Chip Kelly that Thomas will be playing exclusively at running back. With LaMichael James and Kenjon Barner established as the one-two punch and Lache Seastrunk right behind that combo, it wouldn't be a stretch to say that the Ducks have a bit of a surplus when it comes to great running back talents. And he's apparently dazzling at early fall reports. Barner worked with Thomas in the summer and said The Black Mamba was 'extremely fast and talented'' (and Barner's no slowpoke). Thomas received compliments from journalists like "another nice run", "quick feet", and "wow."
