It's official: Hope Solo will join the Season 13 cast of Dancing With The Stars. Rumors of her inclusion began to leak out on Monday, and the news was confirmed by ABC in the evening. Solo will join 11 others, including Los Angeles Lakers forward Ron Artest, on the show, which features competitions centered around different forms of dance.

Solo took to Twitter shortly after the announcement, expressing excitement about her upcoming venture. The goal, she says, is to increase awareness for women's soccer by using her star power while in the limelight on Dancing With The Stars.

It wouldn't be a surprise to see Solo bring home the title, riding a wave of public support after the 2011 Women's World Cup. While it's unclear how well she can dance, Solo is a natural athlete with an infectious smile, making her an odds-on favorite to advance deep into the competition. And she'll have plenty of support back home in Washington, where she was born and raised.
