Washington Huskies Recruiting: Demarquise Johnson To Visit In September (VIDEO!)

College basketball recruiting for the class of 2012 is in full-swing and Lorenzo Romar and his coaching staff are looking to bring talented players to Seattle. The latest target to come on the radar? 6-foot-6 guard Demarquise Johnson out of Westwind Prep Academy in Arizona.

The Huskies are heavily recruiting Johnson, but they will have some competition to land him. In addition to visiting UW on September 24, the guard will pay a visit to both Washington State (Sept. 2) and Gonzaga (Sept. 15) as well. He has not officially announced a leader in his recruitment at this time.

Zach Bell of The Slipper Still Fits had this to say of Johnson:

Over the summer, Demarquise blossomed into one of the most explosive scorers in the country. A long and athletic wing at 6'6'', he is the type of athlete that makes a coach drool becuase he already posesses solid offensive abilities. While he is still working on his deep jumper, Johnson excels in transition and has become one of the most exciting finishers at the rim.

Many expected Johnson to be a Gonzaga-lean at the start of his recruitment, but his recent explosion over the last few months has put his name out there to just about all of the programs on the west coast. The Bulldogs are still very much in the picture, though, as are the Cougars. It appears that Johnson is likely going to play his collegiate basketball in the northwestern corner of the country. Where will he end up playing? You'll just have to stay tuned to find out.
