Cliff Harris Suspended Indefinitely, Including Oregon Football Opener Vs. LSU

The Oregon Ducks announced cornerback Cliff Harris has been suspended indefinitely, with a note that the suspension includes the season-opener against LSU. Harris was cited for speeding and driving with a suspended license on Sunday night after being clocked at 118 mph in a 65 mph zone in a rented 2011 Nissan Altima. A subsequent investigation revealed the car was rented by an Oregon employee, though it’s unclear whether Harris borrowing the car is an NCAA violation.

The news comes from the Oregon Athletics Twitter feed.

No word on whether the suspension will last longer than the opener at this point, or why the suspension came about now. There’s also been no word, as of yet, whether it results from the speeding incident or because of the car rental.

Harris has been cited previously for speeding and his license is suspended in both Oregon and California. He also failed to appear by a Tuesday deadline for the citation, resulting in more legal trouble, according to a report on Wednesday.
