Kentucky Derby 2011: Track Conditions Hold Steady At Churchill Downs

Track conditions play a bigger role in the Kentucky Derby than one might realize and many bettors are keeping an eye on the surface his morning as the run for the roses nears. A sloppy track completely alters the race and, well, creates a mess. With rain in the forecast at Churchill Downs, many are looking skyward, wondering if the weather may play a role in Saturday's 137th running of the Kentucky Derby.

As of now, the track conditions are good, though the rain is coming down at Churchill Downs. The morning track conditions were fast, according to And Down The Stretch They Come.

But keep an eye on the conditions of the track as the 3:24 p.m. post time nears. The undercard is underway on Versus, giving us an idea of how the track will run later on this afternoon.
