2011 Preakness: Post Time, Odds And TV Information

The 2011 Preakness Stakes gets underway on Saturday at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. As the second leg of the Triple Crown, hope springs eternal heading into the Preakness, and this year it’s Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom holding the weight of horse racing’s biggest prize on it’s back. With a host of Derby holdovers and new shooters, Animal Kingdom will have his hands full at what promises to be an exciting race day at Pimlico.

Here is the information for Saturday’s race. More on the race can be found in this StoryStream.

Post Time: The horses will be called to the post at 3:19 p.m. PDT.

TV information: The Preakness will be broadcast by NBC, with coverage set to begin at 1:30 p.m. PDT. Ahead of NBC’s coverage, Versus will have a broadcast of the undercard, which includes a variety of races on turf and dirt.

Odds: We have the latest Preakness odds here. Animal Kingdom is still the favorite and should enter the starting gate as such. Dialed In and Mucho Macho Man are also in contention and hold solid odds to win the Preakness Stakes.

Post positions: Unlike the Kentucky Derby, it’s hard to say any horse got the short-end of the post draw. With only 14 horses in the field, there isn’t a bad spot to be at Pimlico. Animal Kingdom, Mucho Macho Man and Dialed In all drew alongside each other, though, which should make for an interesting race. The full set of post positions can be found here.

Previews: Matt Gardner has made his Preakness picks and predictions here. You can also find an overview of the race and news from race-week here.
