Danny Shelton, Washington Football Recruit, Involved In Gunfight In Auburn, According To Report

We have some sad news to pass along involving Washington football recruit Danny Shelton. On Sunday afternoon, an altercation at a basketball court in Auburn, Shelton's hometown, led to gunfire later as Shelton and his brothers confronted the suspect. One of Shelton's brothers was killed and another was wounded as a result of the altercation, though Shelton and his younger brother Kevin escaped unharmed.

The news comes from Q13's Aaron Levine, who gathered the details of the incident and what led to the shooting.

UW football recruit Danny Shelton and three of his brothers left the basketball court and went to confront the suspected shooter at his home. When they arrived, the suspect shot the two eldest Shelton brothers, Shennon and Gaston. Shennon died and Gaston is recovering at Harborview.

Washington head coach Steve Sarkisian posted a short message on the Washington athletics website regarding Shelton, though he did not release any specifics about the incident.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to Danny Shelton and his family. This is a tragic incident and any support he and his family get at this time is appreciated."

We join Sarkisian in sending thoughts and prayers out to the Shelton family.
