Trey Griffey, Son Of Ken Griffey Jr., Receives Football Offer From Washington State

The Washington State Cougars are in hot pursuit of the son of Seattle Mariners legend Ken Griffey Jr., but not on the baseball diamond. Trey Griffey, a standout wide receiver at Dr. Philips High School in Florida, has received an offer to play football at Washington State as head coach Paul Wulff reportedly pulled the trigger earlier this week.

The offers are beginning to roll-in for Griffey, though Washington State appears to be the first school outside of Florida to promise him a scholarship.

Cougfan.com reported Monday that head football coach Paul Wulff and the staff made it official, offering a scholarship to Trey Griffey, son of Seattle Mariners legend Ken Griffey, Jr.

It's the second of three offers Griffey has gotten in the last few weeks -- besides Florida International, Florida Atlantic has also extended an offer, according to Rivals.com.

Wulff has made Florida a priority recently, and received commitments from a handful of recruits from Dr. Philips High School and the surrounding area this past recruiting season. Henry Eaddy, Isiah Myers, Darryl Monroe and Spencer Waseem all hail from the state and signed Letters of Intent to play for the Cougs this coming season.

Griffey has yet to make a decision and the recruiting process is still young, so stay tuned to this StoryStream for more on his college choice. For the latest news on the Cougars, head over to CougCenter.
