Adam Moore Injury A Torn Meniscus Requiring Surgery; Roster Move Expected Friday

Adam Moore had an MRI on his injured knee during the Seattle Mariners off-day and the news wasn't good for the young catcher. Moore crumpled to the ground in pain chasing a wild pitch from Brandon League in the eighth inning of Wednesday's loss to the Texas Rangers. The injury left Moore unable to put weight on his leg, and looked serious at the time.

The MRI showed Moore has a torn meniscus which will require surgery, though a date for the procedure has not been set. At best, Moore may be back in six to eight weeks, but his recovery could take longer. The news came from the Seattle Mariners official Twitter account.

With Moore out, it's all but certain Josh Bard gets the call-up. With an expected timetable of six to eight weeks or longer, it's also likely Moore heads to the 60-day disabled list to make room for Bard on the 40-man roster.

The Mariners head to Safeco Field for the 2011 home opener on Friday night as they host the Cleveland Indians. For more on Moore and the Mariners, check out SB Nation's Lookout Landing.
