Tim Lincecum Slow Motion Pitching Video Gives Insight Into Mechanics

San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum has his own unique delivery and mechanics, torquing his body to put every ounce of energy into every pitch. Despite his small stature -- Lincecum is listed 5-foot-11 and a generous 165 pounds -- the Washington native throws in the low- to mid-90s and gets an excellent amount of movement on his secondary pitches. Concerns about his mechanics, and the toll it takes on his body, were raised while Lincecum was pitching for the Huskies and have persisted despite his relatively healthy career, but Lincecum is still mowing batters down while keeping them off-balance.

To see Lincecum pitch is a unique experience. His stride is akin to that of a 6-foot-7 pitcher and his delivery comes from the core, with his arm acting more as a jai alai basket. The following video, shot as a promotion by Red Bull, shows Lincecum's delivery in slow motion, and gives us a close-up look at his mechanics.
