Marilyn Niehaus To Throw Out First Pitch, Macklemore To Perform At Mariners' Home Opener

The Seattle Mariners are kicking off the season in style at Safeco Field with what promises to be a touching tribute to Dave Niehaus in many ways. The tributes will come early and often, from his wife, Marilyn Niehaus, throwing out the first pitch to Macklemore performing "My Oh My," his Niehaus tribute.

The news was passed along by MLB.com reported Greg Johns on Twitter.

#Mariners announce that Marilyn Niehaus, Dave's wife, will throw out first pitch on Opening Night at Safeco on April 8. #Mariners Opening Night will also include a live performance by Macklemore, who did the Niehaus tribute song.

If you've missed it, the music video for "My Oh My" can be found here. It incorporates Niehaus highlights and scenes from Seattle, set to an excellent soundtrack by the Seattle artist.

The Mariners will also wear a Niehaus patch on their uniforms all season and a statue outside of Safeco Field is planned. The statue may be done by the end of the 2011 season, but will surely be unveiled ahead of the 2012 season. The patch the team will don is show below.
