Gary Bell Jr. scored 22 points for the Kentridge Chargers, but it wasn't enough as Gonzaga Prep held on for a 72-60 quarterfinal win at the Tacoma Dome. Bell, who will play his college ball at Gonzaga, ironically, has been the key for the Chargers this season, carrying the team into the playoffs and to the Tacoma Dome for the state tournament. But Gonzaga Prep was able to hold him in check, keeping the Chargers at bay during a second half run that put the game away.
The Bulldogs had a 22-point scorer of their own as Chris Sarbaugh led the way in the win. Parker Kelly added 20 points in a three-pronged attack for Gonzaga Prep in the win. Mason Kelley has a full recap of the game, and all the 4A action, up at The Seattle Times.
Gonzaga Prep's road doesn't get any easier as they move on to face Tony Wroten Jr. and Garfield in the semifinals on Friday at 5:30 p.m. Kentridge heads to the loser's bracket to battle Puyallup at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. The Vikings fell to Garfield in a high-scoring affair on Thursday, 90-80.
