Even with a lockout looming, the Seattle Seahawks are making moves to shore-up their roster ahead of the 2011 season. On Tuesday, the Seahawks announced Leon Washington had signed a multi-year deal with the team. Washington was a key part of the Seahawks run to the playoffs after becoming a solid contributor on special teams and as a change-of-pace back.
The terms of the contract, reportedly a four-year deal, were reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter this morning on Twitter.
Seattle RB Leon Washington reached agreement today with Seattle on a four-year, $12.5 million deal -- up to $16 million with incentives.
The Seahawks confirmed the signing just a short time ago on Twitter.
Washington finished the season with 1461 yards and three touchdowns as a kick returner, adding another 100 rushing yards to his total. He came to Seattle in a draft day trade with the New York Jets. After suffering a serious leg injury the year before, Washington had a breakout year in Seattle, providing the Seahawks a much-needed special teams boost, including his two kickoff returns for touchdowns in week three against the San Diego Chargers.
