Nick Holt Fired As Washington Huskies Defensive Coordinator

Washington Huskies Defensive Coordinator Nick Holt has officially been let go by Head Coach Steve Sarkisian, along with safeties coach Jeff Mills and linebackers coach Mike Cox. This is the biggest coaching shakeup since Sarkisian took over the team in 2009.

The contracts of all three coaches will be honored through 2012.

Gregg Bell, Washington's athletic department's official writer tweeted out these comments from Sarkisian:

I want to thank Nick Holt, Mike Cox and Jeff Mills for their hard work and dedication throughout the last 3 years. I wish them all the best. ... They have left our program in a better place.

Dave Mahler from 950 KJR spoke with Nick Holt and Mike Cox after the news broke:

Just spoke to Nick Holt. Was getting calls from players and didnt have much time. "Obviously the whole year was kind of a tough year."

Asked Nick Holt what his next move was: "Gotta go out and find a job."

Just spoke to Mike Cox. Says he found out from Sark last night he was being let go. "I have no regrets. It is what it is."

The team will immediately conduct a national search for replacements at all three positions including a new cornerbacks coach to replace Demetrice Martin.
