Everett, WA native and Mariner High School standout Keivarae Russell is one of the best high school running backs in the nation today, and has made one of the biggest decisions of his life this Thursday afternoon. And according to the Seattle Times' Mason Kelly, Russell has chosen to play for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish instead of staying close to home and playing for Washington.

The 6'0", 175-pound Russell had hats from Notre Dame, Washington Cal and USC lined up on table. But when he made his decision, he donned the Irish lid as the Notre Dame fight song began to play. Russell claimed he had offers from Arizona, Boise State, Oregon, Stanford, Washington State, Wyoming, Colorado, LSU, Nebraska and Oregon State as well, but boiled it down to aforementioned four. I'm sure Brian Kelly will be more than pleased to have him.

Russell Told the Times that last week that he knew where he wanted to go, he just wanted to build the suspense a little:

"It's not tough at all, I know exactly where I'm going. I'm just not going to tell anyone until next week. I saw myself going to that school a few weeks ago, probably before my Cal visit, I kind of knew where I was going to go but I wanted to make sure."

If you haven't already, you can see Russell play for yourself in the Army All-American Game on January 7.
