The New Orleans Hornets have traded Quincy Pondexter to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for Greivis Vasquez per Adrian Wojnarowski from Yahoo! Sports. The former Washington Huskies forward averaged 2.8 points and 1.3 rebounds per game for the Hornets last season. Vasquez, also entering his second season in the NBA, averaged 3.6 points and 2.2 assists per game for the Grizzlies.
Pondexter was averaging 13 points and 8.5 rebounds through two games in preseason action for the Hornets.
Matt Moore from CBS Sports thinks that the Grizzlies were comfortable with the play of former Gonzaga stand-out Jeremy Pargo in the preseason:
Vasquez, entering his second season out of Maryland, was a prominent role player for the Grizzlies' playoff run last year, surprising many with his play-making ability. But head coach Lionel Hollins has said in preseason press conferences that he was impressed with the point guard work of Jeremy Pargo, and Vasquez lacks NBA athleticism and distributing ability.
