The Oregon Ducks have got to be happy with the success they're having on the recruiting trail. First they landed perhaps the best pure point guard on the West Coast in Dominic Artis. Now, Artis has been teamed up with an underrated big that could prove to be another critical cog in building a Pac-12 powerhouse.
Ben Carter from Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas committed to Oregon earlier today over schools like the UNLV Rebels and Utah Utes. Carter is the 129th top recruit according to Rivals and the 36th best power forward, and clearly has some developing to do before he becomes a beast, but the potential is there.
Here are highlights of Carter.
You get the sense of his raw power and ability to finish at the rim, as well as his ability to move in transition. The question is will he develop enough weight and girth to become a solid post presence for the Ducks?
Dana Altman now has a great point guard and a great big man to team up with Jabari Brown next season on a team that promises to be a big-time Pac-12 threat in the next few seasons. Oregon might soon be a two-sport successful school once again.
