11,007 marathon runners braved a windy, rainy day in Washington state on Sunday to compete in the 2011 Seattle Marathon. The 42nd annual running of the event went smoothly, starting and finishing at Memorial Stadium in Seattle Center.
In the full marathon, 1st Place Male went to 34-year-old Seattle resident Jesse Williams, who finished with a time of 2:29:54, more than three minutes better than the male runner-up, Portland's Ian Nurse.
The 1st Place Female was won by Trisha Steidl, who finished in 3:03:41. Steidl, also 34, similarly finished over three minutes ahead of Zara Lukens. Steidl is the track and cross country coach at Seattle University, and this marks her third win in the Seattle marathon.
The men's half-marathon was won by Brian Masterson of Seattle, who finished with a time of 1:12:39. The women's half-marathon went to Bronwyn Crossman of Bellingham who finished in 1:20:43.
