Civil War 2011 Score Update: LaMichael James Injury Leaves Kenjon Barner As Lead Back

After a tough start to the game that saw Oregon State hanging around into the second quarter, the Oregon Ducks have asserted control in the 2011 Civil War, leading 42-7 midway through the fourth quarter. Quarterback Darron Thomas has put together one of his strongest performances of the season, with four touchdown passes on 294 yards passing.

The Ducks suffered a significant scare in the third quarter when star running back LaMichael James went down with a left arm injury. James was battling for yards inside the Oregon State ten yard line and as he was tackled he put out his left arm to brace his fall. Trainers put a big bag of ice on his left elbow, but it has since been removed. A shot of the Oregon sideline showed him with his arms crossed and no apparent artificial support needed for the elbow.

Given the Ducks rout at this point, Kenjon Barner has taken over the lead back role and currently has 16 carries on the day to James' 24 carries. Barner has rushed for one touchdown and caught another touchdown pass from Darron Thomas.
