Washington State Vs. Arizona State Score Update: Connor Halliday And Cougars Trail 20-16 At Halftime

The Arizona State Sun Devils were hoping to get their season back on the right track as they traveled to take on the Washington State Cougars. Instead, they're finding a surprisingly tough Cougars team led by their surprising rookie quarterback. At halftime, the Cougars trail 20-16.

Connor Halliday entered the game in the first quarter and immediately made an impact with an 85 yard touchdown pass on his first collegiate snap. He added a second touchdown pass to Marquess Wilson late in the second quarter, this one a modest 18 yarder to put the Cougars on top 16-13. Through the first half, Halliday is 10-for-16 with 225 passing yards, no interceptions and two touchdowns.

The Sun Devils did not go down quietly after surrendering the lead, and a costly penalty for roughing the passer allowed ASU to move into the red zone. As time wound down, Arizona State running back Cameron Marshall managed to power his way into the end zone to help the Sun Devils recapture the lead.
