After a tight first half where the two teams seemed fairly evenly matched, the Utah Utes have really broken away with a massive second quarter. The Oregon State Beavers enter halftime looking at a 24-0 deficit.
The Utes exploded for 21 points in the second quarter on two Jon Hays touchdown passes and another rushing TD by John White IV.
Although Beavers quarterback Sean Mannion has helped the Beavers put together 113 passing yards, he is only 14-for-26 with a costly second quarter interception. Oregon State has yet to find a way to put any points on the board, and they only have 124 total yards through the first half.
Oregon State has been stifled by the Utah defense, as they are 3-for-10 on third downs in the game. By contrast, the Beavers have only gotten the Utes to third down six times.
The Beavers entered this game as five-point underdogs. You'd imagine that right now, they were wishing that the score was that close.
