The LSU Tigers held on to their number one spot in the AP Poll again in week nine, though a number of other teams in the top 25 were not so lucky.
After big upsets over Oklahoma and Wisconsin sent ripple effects through the top 25, Alabama, Oklahoma State, Stanford and Boise State round out the top five with LSU, while Stanford's rout of the Washington Huskies helped out their cause a lot, moving them from No. 7 to No. 4. Oregon's dismantling of Colorado ensured them to move up as well, jumping up two spots from last week to No. 7 in the country.
Texas Tech, USC, Penn State and Cincinnati all rode big wins into the top 25 again this week, with Texas Tech jumping all the way to No. 19 after stunning Oklahoma, who dropped to No. 11. Wisconsin fell from No. 4 to No. 12, while Michigan State rose to No. 9.
When LSU plays Alabama next week, it will mark the first time in SEC history that a No. 1 and No. 2 in the AP Poll square off agains each other in the regular season. Can't wait.
