Oregon Ducks Football: Texas Linebacker Bryce Cottrell Commits To Oregon

The Oregon Ducks have received a commitment from one of their desired recruits, reports Greg Biggins of ESPN.

Linebacker Bryce Cottrell of Plano West confirmed via text message today that he's a Duck. Cottrell, who racked up 80 tackles and seven sacks as a junior, was being actively recruited by no less than a dozen universities, including Arkansas, Arizona, Arizona State, and Colorado.

This is potentially a big get for Oregon, who is stocking up on players to accrue experience when their tenured starters and backups are no longer around. Although the Ducks aren't in desperate need of a linebacker any time soon, it helps to lock up a commitment early, particularly from someone as sought-after as Cottrell has been. The fact that they have effectively blocked him from signing with any number of Pac-12 divisional rivals is just icing on the cake.

Feel free to discuss this acquisition at SB Nation's Ducks blog, Addicted to Quack.
