Adrian Hanauer Insists Seattle Sounders Are Not In Talks For Diego Forlan

Seattle Sounders FC have released a statement from general manager Adrian Hanauer regarding the possibility of World Cup star and Uruguayan international Diego Forlan joining the club:

"We have watched and admired the play of Diego Forlan for a number of years, and we would be thrilled to have a player of his quality join Sounders FC. However, there is no substance to these current reports that Sounders FC is negotiating with Atletico Madrid and the player, to bring him to Seattle.

Well, darn. Sounders fans always knew this was a long shot, but the report on Spanish radio station Cadena SER made it seem almost possible that Seattle would land such a big fish. Granted, the team already has three designated players in Fredy Montero, Alvaro Fernandez and Blaise Nkufo, but when the club has cash, why not flash it? Plus, it's always nice when MLS clubs are discussed internationally, and it certainly can't hurt the Sounders' reputation.
