There have been plenty of rumors and speculation over a proposed "Cascadia Week", a time during the regular season when Seattle, Portland, and Vancouver would all play one another within a compressed time frame. But with those plans set to begin, at the earliest, in 2012, the clubs have taken matters into their own hands, and announced a preseason tournament amongst the three. The Cascadia Summit will take place March 4-6 at Starfire in Tukwila, with tickets set at $10 per day.
The Sounders kick off the festivities against Portland on Friday, the Timbers play Vancouver on Saturday, and everything wraps up on Sunday with a match between the Whitecaps and Seattle. In addition to the matches, all three days will feature forums between the supporters groups and the coaches.
Let the countdown begin, Sounders fans! It may just be preseason, but this seems like an excellent way to get the rivalries stoked before the season begins.
