Dave Niehaus just mentioned on the Mariners radio broadcast that should the Rainiers make the playoffs, games will be played at Safeco. Cheney will undergo renovation in early September. Niehaus mentioned that a Rainiers-Mariners double-header was still in discussion.
↵The Rainiers lead the PCL Northern Division by 2.5 games over the Salt Lake Bees. The Bees are the Triple-A affiliate of the L.A. Angels of Anaheim.
↵Much of the Mariners best talent is playing in Tacoma. A series at SafeCo would allow Mariners fans a look at the future, and a rare taste of postseason action. Let’s hope the Rainiers hold on to first and Mariners go forward with the plan for a double header. It might be the best thing to happen all season.
