Washington-Oregon Recruiting War: Brett Kingma Down To Seven

Jackson High School standout Brett Kingma has narrowed his list of schools he’s consider to seven, with Washington and Oregon highlighting the favorites. Kingma, a 6’1 guard who plays for Seattle AAU team Friends of Hoop, recently received an offer from the Huskies and is scheduled to visit Eugene on September 18th.

Kingma is still early in his recruiting process but it looks like a close race between UW and Oregon.

Kingma, who helped lead Jackson High to the Class 4A state championship game in March, said he plans to trim his list again — most likely to five schools he will visit this fall on official recruiting trips — before his senior year at Jackson begins Sept. 8.

Of his seven favorites, Oregon, Washington and BYU “are the three that stand out to me right now,” Kingma said.

Kingma doesn’t come highly touted, but he’s been rising the recruiting rankings and attracting attention from plenty of high-major programs this summer. Stay tuned for more on his recruitment and the battle between rivals UW and Oregon.
