Rumor: Oklahoma City Sending Seattle A New Tenant For KeyArena?

Oklahoma City, this would not be sufficient repayment for taking the Seattle Sonics.

According to the source, the Yard Dawgz, who went 6-10 this last season, would be purchased by the same ownership group as the Seattle Storm and start their 2011 season playing at the Key Arena. Force 10 Hoops is comprised of four Seattle business women who purchased the Storm in an effort to keep the team in Seattle.

But it's a start to making amends.

As it turns out, the Yard Dawgz might be another smaller league success story to counterbalance the mediocrity of the Seattle Sports landscape described by Seattle Times columnist Jerry Brewer.

The team's best performance came during the 2006 season, when the Yard Dawgz went 11-and-5. The team made the playoffs five out of the seven years they played, but were 0-and-5 in postseason games.

As a more tangible local connection, Seattle native (Liberty Senior High School 2002) and Washington State alum Mkristo Bruce is a lineman for the Yard Dawgz.

There is overlap between the Arena Football League schedule and the WNBA season, which would both add a new tenant and add a new layer to scheduling home games for the Storm. But for now it's just a rumor anyway -- the Yard Dawgz have apparently denied the report.
