UW Football Draws Votes In AP Top 25 Poll

The Associated Press released its weekly top 25 college football poll this weekend and the University of Washington finds itself just barely on the outside looking in.

Only three Pac-10 teams find themselves in the top 25: Oregon at No. 11, USC at No. 14, and Oregon State at No. 24.  Arizona drew 15 votes while Washington drew 8 votes, projecting the Huskies for 5th in the conference and 39th in the country.

Of course, early-season wins and losses can cause substantial movement.  Washington opens the season on the road at BYU, who is also ranked just outside the top 25.  It's not out of the realm of possibility that a solid opening week win -- especially if it includes some heroics from Heisman hopeful Jake Locker -- pushes the Huskies into the Top 25.
