As Jeff Sullivan points out, Seattle has a glut of players for just a few positions:
I’m not entirely sure how this is going to work, but I’m leaning to some sort of job rotation between Michael Saunders, Russell Branyan, and Milton Bradley through left and DH. You can’t sit Saunders too often. You have to try to get Bradley going, since he’s still here next season. And Branyan’s not going to want to sit on the bench.
And that doesn’t even factor in Casey Kotchman. Maybe Don Wakamatsu will use Yahoo’s fantasy Matchup Ratings to determine the lineup. Those things are fantastic. I never knew data could be parsed into so many meaningless small samples. Did you know that Russell Branyan is 1-7 against pitchers with Irish surnames? Or that Milton Bradley is slugging .738 against the oppressor?
