Minnesota came out swinging today, with 3 of their 4 runs coming in the first inning. The Twins ate up Felix Hernandez, once again leaving the King frustrated. Joe Mauer had 3 hits, including one double, and Delmon Young and Alexi Casilla both tripled. Don Wakamatsu left him in for 7 innings, giving up 7 hits and those 3 runs in the first. Kevin Slowey, however, was on form for his eight innings, continuing to impress for Minnesota.
With this loss the Mariners have tied their record for the most losses in a month, with 6 wins and 22 losses. The record was formerly held by the 1977 Mariners—not exactly the team the current players seek to emulate.
